Sample Mouse Alarm
Hardly had Fritz landed on the table when he was ready to dart off. However, there was a tug, and Fritz was pulled off his feet, landing on the flour-dusted table with his bottom. Max had his large paw on Fritz's tail! "Not so fast, my little friend. Listen carefully. You can choose two sensible targets. Make a visible hole in them so that the baker notices right away. You're not supposed to eat until you're full now, we'll do that later. A sensible choice would be a tasty walnut bread and, since Christmas is coming, a stud!"
Fritz nodded, but he wasn't really listening anymore. The aromas were simply too tempting. He wanted to taste everything, absolutely everything.
As Max lifted his paw, releasing the pressure on Fritz's tail, he dashed off. He turned to the left, accelerating to maximum mouse speed and jumped onto the smaller of the three tables. Here, the cakes, or rather, the tortes, were displayed. Without slowing down, Fritz leaped with an extended posture, disappearing into the chocolate cake like a diver gracefully entering a water basin. "No!" screamed Max, unusually not sluggish, "What are you doing?" The little mouse didn't hear that anymore. When Fritz emerged from the other side with a face covered in chocolate, he briefly touched the table and disappeared into the next cake. This time, he shot out of the top of the cake like a rocket, performed a skillful spin in the air, and landed back on the table. Max only heard Fritz exclaiming in delight, "Unbelievable, what was that delicious thing?" Max sighed softly, "Cheese cream..."
